Day 113

Finally got to Santiago 7 hours later than anticipated. Luckily the bus company gave us a free ride the 1.5 north to Valparaiso where we had a reservation for the night. Went out to dinner at midnight absolutely starving after not really eating for a day and a half (we hadn’t eaten yesterday before boarding the bus)

Made it to a club by about 1:30 and met some Chilean girls. We all hit it off well but especially Lucas and the girl he was with who is a model here in Chile. We spent the rest of the night with them until the club closed which was early compared to Buenos Aires at about 4:30. We then went to a really sketchy after party which was just in some guys house with a makeshift bar and very little light. We didn’t stay long though and left to head back to the neighboring city where these girls were from. By the time we got there the sun was up and more importantly the fish market was open. We had to be the first people to enter the fish market that morning, and most of the fishermen looked at us like we had lost our minds. However the chica Lucas had been talking to loves to cook and wanted to make us ceviche so we bought a few full fish and a bunch of prawns and went back to their house.

The ceviche took like 2 hours to prepare somehow and by the time it was ready we were pretty much all asleep but rallied to enjoy the feast of ceviche before us. It was good though not the best I’ve ever had, but there was so much we didn’t even eat half of it. This was half of one of the bowls we had left over.

Finally Lucas and I made it back to our hostel to go to sleep at the latest time yet in South America… 11AM.
