But enough of that, time to catch all of you up on the happenings and why not begin in the middle, where the parents return and a new chapter of my life begins. So without further ado, day 105.
My parents and sister flew out today but not until very late so we had one last day to check off a few items, all three of which were remaining on my list for BA as well. Headed to Teatro Colon for an early morning tour. This was my first time inside the building. We were actually going to go see a show here on the 27th but with the change of plans to go to Mendoza and then straight to Iguazu instead of back to the city we obviously had to cut that out. No worries though the tour was still amazing. If you though Teatro Colon (Background of this blog) is beautiful then words cannot express the inside. Our tour guide was actually an amateur opera singer and at one point without any preface what so ever started belting out opera to demonstrate the acoustics of the opera house. Here are some pics:
After Teatro Colon we went to Malba which is the famous modern art museum in Buenos Aires. Not going to lie and say it was amazing, but I don't really care for modern art. I did really enjoy this painting though:
And after MALBA we did the short two block walk to the park where we FINALLY were able to rent rollerblades! However much to my dismay they were complete and total garbage and beyond inefficient so it was a ton of work and impossible to gain any speed. However despite this I had a great time and while my dad and I slowly made our way around the lake I learned that he once did a 50k rollerblading race. Impossible to imagine when the mile loop was taking us nearly 15 minutes to navigate.
For dinner we returned to Pizza Piola for a last round of Bruschetta before the three of them had to take off for the airport. Must say, it was quite a good choice for a last meal in BA:
Then with a quick goodbye while the taxi waited the three of them were off to the airport. Erin (Alex's friend who traveled with us the last 2 weeks) was on a flight 24 hours later so that night I took her out dancing at Rose Bar since I never showed her or my sister the best part of the city, the nightlife.
