Lucas got here today! He is my good friend from Seattle. We
met through a business class last Spring and went to a few concerts together
and just hit it off well so now nine months after we met he is flying down to
visit me in BA and then we will go explore Chile for awhile.
He arrived at the house from the airport around 11 and we
got right to it. We went to the central
district and I gave Lucas the walking tour of Casa Rosada, Congreso, Teatro
Colon, etc. I think I could give my own professional tours now after Erin, the
family, and Lucas.
We got back to the house in time for a quick bite and to
freshen up before heading to La Bomba. Before tonight there were only two
things left I felt I hadn’t experienced and need to before leaving Buenos Aires.
La Bomba and a performance in Teatro Colon. But tonight we did La Bomba. La
Bomba is a giant drum circle that takes place every Monday night in the heart
of Buenos Aires. It takes place in a giant courtyard in the middle of an
abandoned warehouse. It’s really hard to describe without going but the energy
is infectious and the drummers constantly build it up over a three-hour period
so that by the end the courtyard is pulsing to the rhythm.
La Bomba finishes about 10:30 so our whole group continued
on to the Alamo Bar where the festivities continued until late night.
