Day 139

After the numerous pushbacks today was finally the day, the day to pack up and actually say goodbye to Pichilemu. Kevin had decided yesterday evening to push back as well, as had Mike and a few other guys. Surf Eat Sleep was about to go from full capacity to mostly empty. Kevin had left early before I had woken up and Mike was supposed to of as well. However apparently the fish wasn’t cooked fully last night (Only dinner Kevin, Mike, and I hadn’t been in charge of making) and many people had had a difficult night and about half of the crew decided to postpone their bus rides one more day as we all had over 10 hour bus rides. Luckily I was not affected and carried on as planned while Mike as still in bed when I left at one.

I woke up somewhat early and went for one final surf at Puntia. The waves weren’t very good but I did get to end on a calm session with a few good rides rather than ending after last night’s session where I feared for my life most of the time.

Turned in the board and managed to talk the owner down $30 on my total rental amount as well as giving me the morning session for free so I headed back to the hostel on light feet given that success combined with the last sessions rides.

It was a final bowl of oatmeal with fresh strawberries and blueberries before a quick pack and sprint to the bus station arriving 2 minutes before my bus left.

Saying goodbye to everyone at the hostel was definitely sad. It really felt like leaving a family, with a lot of hugs and somber mood. Flo the guy who helps Oliver run the hostel dragged our goodbye out a long time with slightly moist eyes. I didn’t quite know how to respond but was definitely touched by the emotion displayed before me. His final question was if I had anything I wanted him to tell Anton to which I said “Keep going big man, be the legend” which got laughs from the whole group.

Three hour bus ride to Santiago where I was able to get the last bus to Buenos Aires.  For the four hours I had to kill in Santiago, I walked around and saw the beautiful central train station and ate a ton of pork skewers from street vendors.

Now just updating the blog before beginning the bus ride. Here goes a 24 and a half hour bus ride.
