Bus ride home from Patagonia was only about 18 hours this time as anticipated. Love the busses here. Ok food, but served three times throughout the trip, with fully reclining seats and movies in english and spanish with the opposite language in subtitles. Really not too bad, especially for 18 hours.
We got off at 11 which gave me just enough time to get shower and drop off my laundry from the trip (There is a place two blocks from me that will wash, dry, and fold all of your laundry for $4.25) before heading to the first day of new classes. I didn't realize it at first but the power was off in the grid where my school was. I realized this when all of a sudden I snapped out of reminiscing about my trip to discover I was playing frogger with cars coming at my from all four directions. Literally. The street lights were out and the cars, motorcycles and busses were playing the most intense game of chicken you can imagine. If you have been out of the USA, especially south of it, you know how other cultures drive. Now picture that driving mentality with no lanes, or streetlights.
Unfortunately my school had no power which of course means no air conditioning. It was the most brutal 3 hours of learning ever. 100% humidity with 95* heat. Apparently the power has been out for this grid for 36+ hours so I'm praying tomorrow the power is back on.
I realized I have talked a lot about food, but rarely about dinners at my homestay. This is the meal I receive most frequently when I eat dinners at home. Might look pretty basic, but for me there really isn't a much better than a nice big salad, Argentinean steak and a mandarin for dessert:
